Bimini Jet Ski Crossing – July 24–27 (Tentative) 🌴🌊
We’re planning a July 24th crossing to Bimini for a 3-day trip, weather permitting.
Right now we have 3 confirmed/interested riders (one additional ski) and are looking for 5–10 more experienced riders, plus another support boat if possible. Possibly have two support boats right now.
Plan:
* Departure: Crandon Park Marina (Miami)
* Launch Time: 6:00–7:00 AM (I’ll be staying in the Miami area the night before.) earlier the better
* Stay: North Bimini – Bimini Cove
* Stops (weather/time permitting):
* Sapona Shipwreck
* Honeymoon Harbor
* Cat Cay
I’ve made this crossing before by boat, so I’m familiar with the area, and I’ve already mapped routes using Garmin with a chartplotter on my Sea-Doo Explorer Pro 170. I’d love to have a few riders with more recent Bimini crossing experience join the group.
Safety Rules
This trip will follow the same principles used by Florida Ski Riders and Jet Rider Nation:
* No rider gets left behind.
* Safety comes first—we ride together, maintain safe spacing, and travel single file when necessary.
* Weather is the deciding factor. If conditions aren’t safe, we’ll delay or cancel. No unnecessary risks.
* We cross at the pace of the slowest rider.
* Experienced riders only. Please have at least 40 hours of riding experience, including some ocean riding. This is not a beginner ride.
* A marine radio is strongly recommended, and a PLB (Personal Locator Beacon) is highly encouraged. We’ll monitor VHF Channel 69.
Volunteer Ride Roles
Depending on experience, riders may be asked to help with:
* Lead Rider – Marine radio and navigation experience required.
* Sweep/Trailer Rider – Marine radio required.
* Weather Monitor – Familiar with marine weather and forecasting apps.
* Medic – I’ll handle this (Red Cross certified with a trauma kit) and will ride mid-pack.
* Mechanical Support – Someone comfortable handling minor on-water issues, such as clearing intake debris or seaweed.
This is an incredible trip, but it’s also a serious open-ocean crossing that requires preparation, teamwork, and good judgment. If you’re looking for a safe, organized group to experience Bimini the right way, send me a message.
If you’re seriously interested, DM me with your ski, experience level, and whether you’re bringing a boat or just a ski.
