The Billie Holiday Theatre proudly welcomes back BILLIE & BEYOND, its signature music series inspired by the artistry, activism, and enduring legacy of Billie Holiday. The series spotlights the next generation of exceptional female vocalists, instrumentalists, and DJs working across jazz, R&B, hip-hop, and beyond.

The 2026 season opens with a powerful evening led by — a Brooklyn-born singer-songwriter, producer, actress, and flautist of Haitian descent whose work fluidly bridges jazz, soul, experimental sound, and Haitian roots traditions. Known for her releases The Girl with the Green Shoes and Y’all Don’t Really Care About Black Women (Verve), Charles has earned critical acclaim from The New York Times, The Village Voice, and beyond.

Opening the evening is , a Grammy-nominated multidisciplinary artist, self-taught violinist, composer, producer, and vocalist. A three-time Apollo winner, Classique’s work fuses hip-hop, R&B, classical undertones, and storytelling into a fearless exploration of identity, resilience, and cultural heritage.

The night will be hosted by poet and speaker , with a high-energy DJ set by DJ , plus light bites and cocktails available throughout the evening.
