About this Event

In , esteemed activist Bill Ayers delivers multilayered, thoughtful insights into resistance and revolution, past and present. On January 21, Bill will discuss his latest book in conversation with Martha Biondi, the Lorraine H. Morton Professor of African American Studies and Professor of History at Northwestern University.

Praised by organizers and activists ranging from Angela Davis to Tom Morello, this new collection of eight essays invites us to consider the complex idea of abolition as a political framework, culture, and orientation. Blending history and political theory and weaving in examples from literature, social movements, and his personal life, this book is a useful resource and primer for those interested in fighting for social justice.

Bill Ayers is a community activist, an educator, and host of the podcast . He has written extensively about social justice and democracy, education and the cultural contexts of schooling, and teaching as an essentially intellectual, ethical, and political enterprise. His books include , , and .

The event will take place downstairs at Bookends & Beginnings from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on January 21st. Doors will open at 5:00 for this event and the MiniBar will be open. Following the event, the author will be available to sign books, which will be available for purchase at Bookends.
