Bill & Ted are back once again for another Excellent Kayak Adventure on the Fox River for Saturday June 13th 10 AM. The Kayak Adventure will run from the Montgomery Dam to the Yorkville Dam. It is a leisurely and scenic paddle down the Fox River. The adventure usually lasts 4-5 hours. Meet at 10:00 am in the parking lot at Bicentennial Riverfront Park in Yorkville, which is the trip’s endpoint. We will shuttle everyone to the starting point at South Broadway Park in Montgomery, and put in just below the dam. Our lunch stop will be at Hudson Crossing Park in Oswego. Paddlers must supply their own food, water, and other beverages for the entire journey. Feel free to bring along any fun props or kayak decorations. Both porta-potties and potable water are available at the lunch stop. We will take out just above Yorkville Dam at Bicentennial Riverfront Park in Yorkville. The Yak Shack has 17 kayaks reserved for Piccadilly members, first come, first served. The rental rate for Kayaks is $50 for the day. There are also 20 canoes available for rent if a canoe is desired or if the kayaks are sold out. The rental rate for a Canoe is $70 for the day. You must individually call the Yak Shack at (630) 479-8074 to reserve for Saturday June 13th and tell them you are with “Piccadilly Ski Club”.
All Kayakers or Canoe riders must have a copy of their completed Water Safety certificate while on the river. This must be completed in advance! If you have your copy from last year, it is good for life. If you do not have your copy from last year, or have not taken the test, please rewatch the video in advance at https://www.rentalboatsafety.com/canoes-kayaks#test, then create an account with your email address, log in, take the10 question test and print out the certificate.
We will sign waivers and pay for the watercraft at the beginning of the adventure. Our reservation hold ends on June 3rd, after which watercraft will be released for rental to the general public. The rental includes life jackets, paddles, delivery and pickup of the watercraft.
When you have completed your reservation, please sign up on Meetup to give others an idea of who is going. If you have your own watercraft, we encourage you to join our trip at no cost. You will be responsible for coordinating your own watercraft drop off and pick up. Indicate in Meetup comments if you plan to bring your own watercraft.
The trip will go rain or shine, in the absence of lightning, assuming river conditions are favorable. Email [email protected] or [email protected] for any additional information about this excellent adventure.
