About this Event
Returning to Birmingham’s Eastside Rooms, the Bikeability Conference will take place on 2 March 2023. At this conference we’re focusing on the impact Bikeability makes, whether that be to each child we train or in society’s shift to more sustainable, active travel.
With an agenda packed with inspirational keynote speakers, fascinating workshops, and plenty of opportunities to network with colleagues. You will be inspired, share best practice, and learn more about the Bikeability Trust’s plans for the future.

Join Bikeability Trust Chief Executive Emily Cherry in conversations with key players from the world of cycling and walking, including Active Travel England representatives, industry experts and academics.

How Bikeability is breaking down the barriers to cycling
In this session we will focus on the impact of the Widening Participation Fund, which invested £1.6 million in 44 projects which reducing the barriers to Bikeability for children from underrepresented groups.
Join Rosa Shirm (Research and Development Officer) and Mike Holwill (Innovation Officer) from the Bikeability Trust as they present key findings from the projects. Hear stories of the young cyclists who learnt to cycle and learnings from project leads.
You will then join one of five workshops, each focusing on a different Widening Participation Fund project. You will learn more about how project leads removed barriers to Bikeability, the impact it had on children and families involved, and how you can be more inclusive in your Bikeability delivery.
You will be invited to register for workshops via email closer to the conference.

Workshops: Bikeability best practice
During the afternoon, we will split into five workshops, each focused on supporting you to deliver Bikeability to the highest standard. Workshops will be run by the Trust and industry experts with the goal of inspiring and encouraging best practice across the Bikeability industry.
You can choose from five workshops, you will be invited to register for workshops via email closer to the conference.
