What is [!] Bike Rave [!] ?
We will bring the sounds - some of the finest DJs that Otautahi has to offer will be riding the wheels of steel, on a mighty & majestic mobile stage bike!
There will be lasers, bubbles, costumes, art, and HUGE BEATS!
The rave will be split into 2 events - both on the same night!
A Family Bike Rave - kicking of at 2pm and going until 4pm.
The Adults/ Big Kids Bike Rave - starts @ 7pm in another location.

This Rave is a FREE PARTY and follows the PLUR ethos -
PEACE, LOVE, UNITY, RESPECT
We're all on this crazy ride together;

THE DETAILS:
FAMILY BIKE RAVE:
Starts @ 2pm.
Meeting in Hagley Park @ The Hagley Park Helipad.
{The large round field of grass at the end of the netball courts, Hagley Park South.}
We will do two laps around the park, finishing with an ecstatic dance session back at the Helipad.
There will be lolly scrambles and spot prizes for best costumes, best bicycle decoration, best bicycle lighting and best vibes.
This will end @ 4pm

ADULTS BIKE RAVE:
The Big Kids Rave starts @ 7pm
Meeting @ Edmonds Band Rotunda on Manchester Street.
We will be making a couple of laps around the CBD before heading out to our secret rave location.
You can expect about 2ish hours of riding.
The end is nigh!

WHAT YOU NEED:
BRIGHT LIGHTS:
Think bright lights, reflective jackets, fluro hair, glow sticks, EL wire, or anything else that flashes and blinks.
This isn’t just about making sure that you look awesome, make sure your bike is pimped out also.
DRESS UP:
Gold, shiny, shimmer, bling, the ol’ razzle-dazzle.
We want the Bike Rave to be a shiny shimmering mess as we ride along the river into the sunset.

RAVE RULEZ!
There are a few rules that we would like you to follow. This makes it safer for everyone and avoids problems on the night.
1. Wear a helmet.
2. Get working bike lights.
3. Watch out for each other. If someone falls over, pick them up and see if they are ok.
4. Don’t be a dick to the public or Police.
5. Be safe and sensible when we are crossing at red lights.
6. Clean up after yourself – bring a plastic bag for your rubbish, we are not your parents – we ain’t picking up your shit.
7. Have fun

We are not responsible for your safety; YOU ARE!
We have done our best to ensure that the route is well lit and safe, but it does involve a little riding on the road and in the dark and past people. We should attempt to obey all traffic laws. If we get split up, we can rejoin at one of the several stopping points along the ride, so please stop at red lights and stop signs.

CONSENT - IS MANDATORY IN ALL WAYS, ALWAYS!
Photography, touching of any kind, hugs, etc -
If it's not an enthusiastic 'Hell YES!" it's a No.
Always ask, if you're unsure, communicate more!
RESPECT the physical, emotional, and sensory space of others, at all times.
We have a ZERO tolerance policy for abuse, dangerous behaviour, intoxication, or general bad vibes.
You will be rapidly ejected from the event - no one wants to play with rotten eggs.

SAFETY THIRD.
Seriously, we are embarking on a bicycle adventure, with a large group of people with differing riding abilities we have to all do our best to ensure that everyone has a safe & accident free Bike Rave experience.
In order to ensure we have a safe ride, there will be a crew RANGER RAVERS who will be our pack leaders and helpers.
Some of us are First Aid trained, all of us are sensible, capable, and responsible adults with oodles of cycling (and raving) experience.
Our Ranger Ravers will all be sporting this seasons hottest high-vis vest colours & will be easily identifiable by the bubbles streaming from the rear of their bicycles.
These people are here to help with safety.
If they come and request that you follow a safety directive; please be polite and listen to them.

This is a FREE PARTY community event.
We are doing this for the love & all costs are covered out of our own, very shallow pockets.
There will be a KOHA BUCKET doing the rounds - please consider supporting us if you'd like to see more of these in the future.
Final Note:
The Free Party movement and Bicycle Raves are both global movements with deeply storied histories all their own.
We are sharing these ideas with the greater Otautahi community with the hope that they will take root & we can all dance & play together more - in joy, peace, & respect.
