Bigfoot Festival: Freestyle Poetry & the Infinite Rough Draft Workshop

Led by Brennan DeFrisco, Freestyle Poetry & the Infinite Rough Draft is a generative writing workshop and culminating open mic centered on the theory and practice of improvised poetry, automatic writing, ekphrasis, and creative honesty. Participants will engage in writing and performance exercises and strategies designed to promote spontaneous generation of new work, antithetical to perfectionism, writer's block, and the superego. Writers of all experience welcome.

This writing workshop is FREE, and it is taking place at the Hyatt Centric (601 SW 11th Ave) on June 25th at 10:00am. (If a Venmo/PayPal handle is presented at this event, we encourage folks to tip the workshop leader.)

This event is a part of the Bigfoot Poetry Festival's 2026 workshop series.

This event takes place on the second floor of the Hyatt Centric in the Pettygrove event room. This venue is ADA accessible. There is an elevator to takes folks up a level.
