Hey everybody! Our November event is coming up. Since we'll be away for the Christmas period we thought we'd bring you a special guest to keep your inspiration tanks full until 2026.
Chloe Victoria is a singer-songwriter, poet, writer and performer living in Cheltenham.
Her poetry encompasses everything from Greek mythology and folklore to the gothic tradition, to tell stories of love, death, desire, loss and empowerment.
Not one to shy away from darkness, her work leans into beauty, but retains an edge. She has been praised by Anna Saunders of Cheltenham Poetry Festival, Matthew M. C. Smith of Black Bough Poetry and Scarlett Ward of Fawn Press at poetry open mic events – and has had work published by Black Bough, Ice Floe Press, Mookychick, Pink Plastic House: A Tiny Journal, Analogies & Allegories Lit Mag, Pvssymagic and Fevers of the Mind, as well as featuring as part of a citywide art exhibition in her current hometown of Cheltenham.
Chloe is also one half of musical duo Saint Senara, where she has won awards for her songwriting; and independent theatre company Moth Sanctuary Productions, where she has written and performed original takes on classic literature, such as 'The Fourth Bride' – where she resurrected Lucy Westenra from Dracula in the modern day for a powerful one-woman show which has been performed at Cheltenham Literature Festival and Dracula Returns to Derby.
We'll be giving you the chance to do your thing as always.
With regards to the open-mic, here's what you need to know:
1. You get 5 minutes to do your thing.
2. There will be a rolling sign up throughout the night. Sign up for the first section starts at 7pm once the doors open, and the show starts at 7.30pm. You must sign up in person. We cannot do remote sign ups.
3. If you miss the sign up sections, we finish off the night with our free for all known as 'The Jazz Section'. Anybody can grab the mic from the crowd if they feel inspired to do so.
4. Hate speech and disruptive heckling will not be tolerated.
5. There will be a suggested donation policy of £3 on the night. The money raised will go towards the cost of booking more fabulous feature acts for future events. We believe that all people who work in the arts should be paid for their work. We also believe that our audience deserves the finest calibre of poetry/spoken word in return for their loyalty and generosity.
So, come on down, grab a drink, enjoy some food, show your support, and help the local scene grow in all its glory.
Big Love from Big Words!
