BIG SEXY NOISE is the volcanic union of LYDIA LUNCH, the iconic American indie provocateur, with thedark, swaggering energy of GALLON DRUNK — the cult London outfit known for their swampy,blues-soaked bursts of sound.
LYDIA LUNCH has been setting fires in the underground world for decades — from her incendiarybeginnings with TEENAGE JESUS AND THE JERKS in the late-’70s New York no wave scene to herrelentless spoken word, film, and musical collaborations with disparate artists such as WILLIAMBURROUGHS, ROWLAND S. HOWARD, THURSTON MOORE, ANTHONY BOURDAIN, and numerousothers.
JAMES JOHNSTON and IAN WHITE are best known as the founder/vocalist/guitarist and drummer ofGALLON DRUNK. Emerging in the early 1990s, the band’s wild fusion of post-punk cinematic noirearned them critical acclaim and a devoted following, leading to collaborations and tours with artists likeFAUST, PJ HARVEY, NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS, and others.
With BIG SEXY NOISE, LUNCH’s raw wit and fearless presence find their match in the bruised eleganceof her bandmates' instrumental fury — a collision of distorted guitar and hypnotic rhythm that turns everyperformance into a ritual.
