Girls on Toast is your new favorite girl band. Mixing serious messages with an upbeat sound, their approach to punk is reminiscent of 90s female-led bands like Hole and Veruca Salt with a silly and refreshing twist. Their lyrics are filled with frustration and reflections on relationships, while their drum beats and basslines create danceable grooves. Historically Close Friends is an alternative pop band from Washington, DC delivering upbeat and lively performances since the spring of 2024. They made waves at Adams Morgan Porchfest this past November, covering songs by artists such as MUNA, Chappell Roan, and The Aces. Now, HCF is venturing into writing original tunes that buzz with that same crispy crackly cloud of potent energy that's been lighting up their devoted fanbase since the beginning.
