Safe Sex is an indie funk band based in Richmond, VA, blending the groove of old-school funk, the creativity of modern indie, and the energy of dance-driven music. Safe Sex features four core members and a rotating lineup of guest artists on strings and horns. Fronted by the powerful, soulful vocals of Katy Pumphrey, Safe Sex delivers a high energy sound crafted to get everyone dancing. Inspired by the classics but driven by a fresh, contemporary vibe, their shows are a celebration of funky bass lines, tight rhythms, and catchy melodies, where everyone’s invited to move and groove.
