ABOUT THE ARTIST: Derrick Ward and Pure Music

Derrick Ward is a native of Atlanta and a product of the Clark College Jazz community. His jazz was learned from and nurtured by Dr. James H. Patterson, renowned professor of Jazz education at Clark Atlanta University. He has shared his musical gift internationally in Paris and Nice, France and Montreux, Switzerland as well as the Newport Jazz Festival and the Atlanta Jazz Festivals. Pure Music was founded in 1985 by trumpeter Derrick Ward and enjoys a dedicated local following. Pure Music regularly performs throughout the city of Atlanta for special occasions such as private corporate events, birthday celebrations, clubs and fundraising events
