Music for Large & Small Ensembles: Die große Eröffnung des 9. Grazer Big Band Workshops!
Am 3. September um 19:30 Uhr eröffnet das Konzert „Music for Large & Small Ensembles" im Theater im Palais die Woche des Workshops. Dieses Konzert wird von den Dozent*innen des Workshops gestaltet und bietet einen ersten Vorgeschmack auf die kreative Arbeit der kommenden Tage. Die erfahrenen Klangkünstler*innen, darunter Patrick Dunst (Saxofon), Karl Rossmann (Trompete), Emiliano Sampaio (Gitarre) und weitere, präsentieren ein Programm vom legendären Trompeter und Komponisten Kenny Wheeler, dessen bedeutende Big Band-Kompositionen dieses Konzert maßgeblich definieren. Besonders der charakteristische ECM-Sound, der Wheelers Musik auszeichnet, wird dabei eine zentrale Rolle spielen. Dieses musikalische Ereignis dient nicht nur als Auftakt, sondern auch dazu, die Gemeinschaft unter den Jazz-Enthusiast*innen zu stärken und die kreative Energie für die gesamte Woche zu entfachen.

Music for Large & Small Ensembles: The Grand Opening of the 9th Graz Big Band Workshop!
On September 3rd at 7:30 PM, the concert "Music for Large & Small Ensembles" at the Theater im Palais will kick off the workshop week. This concert, organized by the workshop instructors, offers an initial taste of the creative work to come in the following days. The experienced sound artists, including Patrick Dunst (saxophone), Karl Rossmann (trumpet), Emiliano Sampaio (guitar), and others, will present a program featuring the legendary trumpeter and composer Kenny Wheeler, whose significant big band compositions will largely define this concert. The distinctive ECM sound, characteristic of Wheeler's music, will play a central role.
