BiCONIC Mardi Gras Float: Free to Bi!

BiCONIC is excited to announce we will be returning to the Mardi Gras Parade this year!

After winning a Mardi Gras Parade Award for our debut float in 2021, this year In line with this year's Mardi Gras Theme ‘Free to Be’, our float theme is ‘Free to Bi’ and we will be adorned in bi+ colours, with our iconic 10m bi+ flag trailing behind!

With a mix of dancers and flag carriers, we welcome participants who are eager for a parade boogie, or those who would prefer not to dance. For those who purchase dancing tickets, you will be required to attend minimum, 2 of the 3 rehearsals that will be located in the inner west of Sydney (dates TBC). For those unable to commit to rehearsals, carrying our flag is a great option!

BiCONIC is an award winning LGBTQIA+ events organisation focused on creating inclusive events for the bi+ community, queer folk and allies. We have been running events for 6+ years, and have created over 40 events for the community!

Our float ‘Free to Bi’ is focused on sharing the message that bisexual+ individuals are free to be themself! That we are free to be visible and celebrated as an important part of the LGBTQIA+ community!

As visibility has increased, more people than ever are identifying as bisexual+, making up the largest group in the LGBTQIA+ community. Now, more than ever, we are free to be bisexual+! This year, BiCONIC has brought the community together, to send the clear message, you are free to bi!.

Costuming

We will be providing singlets which will be customised with the BiCONIC logo and our float tag line along with a big bisexual flag (of course!).

We request that participants pair their shirts with black bottoms. This can be anything from shorts or tights to underwear depending on your preference! We will also be encouraging participants to indulge in glitter to really sparkly on parade night! We will be providing some biodegradable glitter on the day, however encourage participants keen to adorn themselves to bring some extra to ensure they can get their full desired effect!

Tickets - $100

Ticket costs include all required expenditure to put together a float (e.g. ute hire, sounds system hire, choreographer and rehearsal spaces, photographer etc) AND all participants will receive their very own custom BiCONIC Mardi Gras singlet to wear during the parade and keep as a memento of your experience!
