Join us for our monthly meeting Tuesday December 9th at 6:30PM Hawaii time! This month we will be conducting a HYBRID meeting format. Both online and in person at the Kamana Senior Center in Hilo (127 Kamana Dr., Hilo HI 96720). Presentation will begin at 6:30PM Hawaii time. (Link goes live & Doors at Kamana will open at 6PM, potluck from 6:00-6:30PM). We are pleased to be hosting Allison Miles from the Hawaii Ant Lab! Allison will be presenting on LFA, also known as the dreaded Little Fire Ant. She will cover the biology of these tiny ants, how to detect and systematically survey around your property, and the basics of how to treat an infestation around your hives! The movement of honeybee hives across properties is one way that LFA can spread into organic farms that have previously been free of LFA. Help us to protect their crops from this invasive species.
Allison Miles is a technician at the Hawaii Ant Lab. She studied Agriculture at UH Hilo and is an ex bee-handler and hive-rescuer.
