BiA Doula Training is a comprehensive 7-day birth doula training programme with a focus on integrating knowledge and embodied learning. We use a variety of teaching methods, amongst which role play, practising hands-on skills, self-reflection exercises, case studies, lecturing, story telling, one-on-one exchange and self study.The program includes a 4-day Foundation Training, followed (usually 3-6 months later) by a 3-day Advanced Doula Training where the focus shifts from understanding the physiology of birth and how to support as a doula, to supporting physiology also when birth has certain challenges or when pathology occurs.
Topics covered in the Advanced Training:
* understanding birth from an endocrine / neurological perspective
* breech birth
* induction / augmentation of labour
* caesarian birth
* non-engaging baby
* baby in asynclitic position
* posterior baby
* challenges in pushing
* unexpected outcomes, postpartum health
We go into your role as a doula + possible exercises / positions to promote physiological birth in those circumstances, as well as how to support your clients when there was an unexpected / traumatic outcome of the birth. You need to do your pre-reading before joining the Advanced Training.
You also learn:

* lower back massage
* polarity
* bum jiggle
* specific acupressure points for specific situations
