This recital is presented by the Academy of Bharatanatyam and features the performance of Shamti Ruiz Nambiar, under the guidance and artistic direction of Smt. Guru Gayathri Keshavan.

The program honors the Pandanallur style, renowned for its precision, purity, and strict adherence to tradition. This classical lineage preserves the structure of Bharatanatyam passed down by the Nattuvanars and the great masters of the Tanjore tradition.
The Academy continues this legacy through careful teaching, traditional choreography, and a deep commitment to the authenticity of classical Indian dance.

Born in Mexico, Shamti Ruiz Nambiar has devoted her life to the study of sacred dance and its psychological, spiritual, and cultural impact. She began her training at the age of five and has since worked with teachers and companies in Mexico, the United States, Egypt, Spain, and India.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Dance Science from Universidad Europea de Madrid, where she conducted research on the transpersonal and spiritual dimensions of Bharatanatyam, contributing to the field of psychology.

She also holds a Master’s in Art Didactics and Psychological Education, and has specialized training in Transpersonal Psychology from Pneuma Institute, where she currently serves as a professor and therapist.

For Shamti, dance is a path of transformation and a gateway to the divine. She is the founder and director of Pneuma Dance, based in Oxford (United Kingdom), from where she shares the transformative power of Bharatanatyam and other sacred traditional dances with students around the world, always honoring Indian culture and lineage.

Since 2017, she has trained under the discipline and guidance of her guru, Smt. Guru Gayathri Keshavan, to whom she expresses deep devotion and gratitude. Her journey has been one of consistent study, dedication, and discovery of the sacred knowledge contained in this art.

Smt. Gayathri Keshavan is a distinguished Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher, and composer, and the Director of the Academy of Bharatanatyam in Bangalore.

Born in Tamil Nadu, raised in Andhra Pradesh, and settled in Karnataka, she embodies the rich cultural heritage of South India. A disciple of her parents, Sri T.K. Narayan and Smt. Jayalakshmi Narayan, she has a career spanning over sixty years as a performer, educator, and composer.
Her extensive training in Carnatic music and veena has deeply influenced her choreographic and artistic work.

Recipient of the Government of India Scholarship Award (1973), she has taught and performed in India, Europe, the United States, and Mexico. She has served as a university faculty member, academic examiner, and selection committee member for the CCRT, Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

Among her numerous recognitions are the National Vocational Excellence Award (2014 & 2016) and the Natya Mayuri National Award.
She has directed major productions such as Andal Paasuram, Hari Om Shivam, Ramayanam, Dashavataram, Kutrala Kuravanji, Poothana Moksham, and many others.
