Radhika klasszikus indiai tánc tanulmányait gyermekkorában kezdte. Vidushi Sharadamani Shekkar révén ismerte meg a Bharatanatyam táncformát a Sanathana Natyalaya (Mangalore) tánciskola keretei között. Az évek során elsajátította a táncforma különböző változatait és mélységeit, és az elismert guru, Padmini Ramachandran of Natyapriya útmutatásával mutatta be az első szóló előadását (Arangetram). Hivatásos táncossá azonban később vált, miután informatikai diplomát szerzett és több évig programozóként dolgozott. Rájött ugyanis, hogy semmi sem teszi annyira teljessé az életét, mint a tánc. Azóta minden idejét e művészeti formának szenteli, elméleti előadásokat, workshopokat tart, és járja az iskolákat, hogy az új nemzedékekhez is eljusson ez az ősi műfaj.
Továbbá olyan ismert táncosok vezetésével folyamatosan tovább képezi magát, mint Rama Vaidyanathan és Bragha Bessell. Táncelőadási nagy sikert arattak szerte a világon, Indián kívül fellép Amerikában és Európában is. Erőssége lenyűgöző arcjátékában áll, és ahogyan a különböző karaktereket életre kelti a színpadon.
Saját tánciskolájában nem csak a fiatal tehetségek tanításával foglalkozik, hanem már évek óta rendez táncfesztiválokat és workshopokat ennek az ősi táncformának a propagálása céljából. Az elmúlt 10 év során majd 40 eseményt szervezett meg dél-Indiában, ezen a téren végzett munkájáért 2022-ben megkapta a Samskara Bharati Kala Puraskara díjat. Tánctehetségét többek között a legjobb táncosnak járó díjjal honorálták 2018-ban Chennaiban.
Radhika Shetty is a highly endowed and promising artiste who was
introduced into the art form of Bharatanatyam by Vidushi Smt.
Sharadamani Shekhar of Sanathana Natyalaya, Mangaluru.
Over the years, in her keen interest for learning the depths and diversities of
the dance form, she completed her Rangapravesha under the guidance and
direction of the honored Guru Smt. Padmini Ramachandran of Natyapriya,
Bengaluru. She has honed her skills under Gurus Smt. Rama Vaidyanathan
and Smt. Bragha Bessell and evolves with every performance.
Today, Radhika has blossomed into a soulful performer and has been
recognized by her audiences at various recitals across the globe. Radhika’s
forte lies in the depth of her performances as she portrays different
characters on stage with ease. She has delivered lectures, conducted
workshops and has performed at various prestigious venues of the country,
also Europe and USA.
Radhika believes that propagating the art form is also very important to
nurture the young minds and that gave rise to Nrityaangan, a registered
trust founded by Radhika in Mangaluru. She not only teaches young
aspirants of Bharatanatyam, at her academy in Mangaluru, but also curates
Dance Festivals, Workshops and Seminars with the sole objective of
propagating this beautiful art form. Over the last 10 years, since its
inception, Nrityaangan has hosted close to 40 events and Radhika curated
all these events with an objective of nurturing the next generation of artistes
in Mangaluru and around. For all the relentless work by Nrityaangan, the
trust was honoured with the ‘Samskara Bharati Kala Puraskara 2022’, in
Mangaluru.
She is also a graded artiste of Bengaluru Doordarshan and empanelled with
SPICMACAY for the workshop demonstrations. She was awarded the BEST
DANCER in the senior category by Parthasarathy Sabha, Chennai, in 2018.
