This in-person event is designed for parents, caregivers, volunteers, EYs practitioners, healthcare professionals and breastfeeding advocates interested in evidenced-based learning and best practice.
For our 10th BfN Lambeth Study Day, we're very excited to be joined by Shaheda Yasmeen-Khan, Natasha Baker, Amber Clark, Caoimhe Whelen and Olivia Hinge.

Milk Kinship in Islam
Host: Shaheda Yasmeen-Khan
Info: Shaheda Yasmeen-Khan is a registered midwife, qualified since 2013 and a mum of 2, who has worked in the NHS for 8 years establishing a postnatal midwife speciality and breastfeeding specialist midwife and now works privately within this role focusing on educating mums on colostrum harvesting, pumping and getting breastfeeding off to a good start as well as providing culturally appropriate breastfeeding support within the South Asian community.

Infant Feeding Experience & Support Needs of Women with Severe Mental Illness
Host: Natasha Baker
Info: A midwife by background, Natasha completed her training at the University of Hertfordshire in 2012. Since then, she's worked in different roles, most recently, leading on NIHR portfolio adopted studies in women’s health at UCLH as senior clinical research midwife. She completed a Masters of Research at St Georges University of London in 2017 and was awarded an NIHR pre-doctoral research fellowship to develop a doctoral proposal. During this time, she worked with Professor Louise Howard to investigate ‘Factors affecting infant feeding practices among women with severe mental illness’. In 2021 Natasha was awarded an NIHR clinical doctoral research fellowship which she undertook in the department of health services and population research, KCL. Her PhD investigated infant feeding in the context of severe mental illness, the overarching aim of which was to inform resources for both staff and women to help individualise infant feeding support for women with mental illness.

Optimising the Expression of Breastmilk and the Importance of Flange Sizing
Host: Amber Clark
Info: Amber Clark is a Registered Nurse, International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Tongue Tie Practitioner, currently working at Oxford University Hospital as the Infant Feeding Lead. She is the clinical lead and developer of the Early Breastmilk Toolkit, created in collaboration with Health Innovation Wessex during her time as Infant Feeding Specialist at University Hospital Southampton.
Amber is deeply passionate about ensuring that all families are supported in providing breastmilk to their babies, reaching their individual feeding goals, and receiving evidence-based information, care, and support throughout their journey.

Breastfeeding with Primary Low Milk Supply
Host: Caoimhe Whelen
Info: Caoimhe is a private practice IBCLC from Dublin. As part of an MSc by research in University College Dublin she undertook qualitative research on women's experiences of breastfeeding with primary low milk supply. Findings from Caoimhe's research have been published in Breastfeeding Medicine and International Breastfeeding Journal. In 2025 Caoimhe's book 'Practical Breastfeeding: An Illustrated Guide for Parents' was published by Canbury Press.

Host: Olivia Hinge
Info: Olivia works as a midwife and IBCLC working in a busy London trust on the labour ward. She has a passion for supporting families experiencing bereavement and pregnancy loss, including helping them navigating their lactation journey during some of the hardest times in their life. Her talking entitled lactation after loss covers milk suppression both the medical management and a self approach approach, as well as milk donation opportunity.

Host: Shruti Arora
Info: Shruti has been a BfN member for almost 2 decades, beginning her journey as a volunteer Helper in a local group. Over time, she's taken on wider roles and now serves as a Member Director, Helpline Volunteer and Tutor / Supervisor. Throughout her work, she is driven by a deep commitment to removing barriers around breastfeeding in society and ensuring that all families feel informed, supported, and welcome. She's particularly passionate about engaging and empowering women from the global majority and championing BfN’s dedication to inclusivity and equity.
