About this Event
The hegemony of Western scientific paradigms has precipitated epistemic injustice, compromising the progress of knowledge globally. Addressing this imbalance necessitates a broader epistemological inclusivity beyond Western frameworks. This presentation will examine African epistemologies as a pathway to enriching current practices in the cognitive sciences, exploring the dynamics of epistemic injustice, the underrepresentation of non-Western scholarship, the barriers confronting African researchers, and emerging trends towards a more inclusive science.
Dr. Adeyemi Adetula is a psychologist at Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Nigeria. He is co-author of 'Psychology should generalise from - not just to - Africa' and a researcher in the 'Many labs Africa' consortium.
