About this Event
Why You Shouldn’t Miss This
Châteauneuf-du-Pape has always been a pioneer: the first French AOC (1936), and still a benchmark of quality. But what makes the region essential now is its modern edge:
- Innovation in the vineyard – with 35% farmed organically or biodynamically.
- A diversity of style – 13 grape varieties, 5 terroirs, countless expressions.
- A global outlook – two-thirds of production exported, shaping wine lists worldwide.
- Relevance to the Dutch market – a trusted appellation with modern appeal, matching the growing demand for authentic and sustainable wines among Dutch consumers.
About Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Created in 1936 as France’s very first AOC, Châteauneuf-du-Pape covers 3,150 hectares across five communes: Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Bédarrides, Courthézon, Orange and Sorgues. With 13 authorised grape varieties and five distinct terroirs, the appellation produces wines of depth, elegance and diversity.
Each year, around 90,000 hectolitres are produced. Approximately 12 million bottles, of which 93% are red and 7% white. True to its pioneering spirit, the appellation is deeply engaged in sustainability: 35% of its surface is farmed organically or biodynamically.
Distributed across the globe (with 66% exported), Châteauneuf-du-Pape remains a benchmark for fine wine: historic, premium, and forward-looking.
