About this Event
We’ve heard the terms “Western mentality” or “Westernized” used often, but what do they actually mean, and how have they impacted our cultures? Let’s talk about it!
This is a space for Black, African, and Afro-Caribbean communities to connect and share our lived experiences.
Through group conversations and reflections, we'll discuss:
✨How Western values affect our lives, cultures and identities
✨Differences between African and Western knowledge
✨How to stay rooted in our ancestral traditions, and more!
Come ready to engage, learn, and chat it up with community. Light refreshments will be provided!
About the facilitator
This workshop is facilitated by Michelle Bonsu, a cultural worker that's passionate about learning, oral tradition, and African ancestral wisdom. Michelle has facilitated cultural workshops in both public libraries and community spaces. She's the host of Asase Ba, a podcast that honours oral traditions and shines a light on Ghanaian stories that are often untold and silenced. You can learn more about her work on Instagram and asaseba.com.
