Wearable Prints for Mo’Print 2026
As part of Mo'Print Denver 2026, Rainy Days Gallery presents Beyond the Wall, an exhibition examining wearable prints within contemporary art.
In recent decades, museums, biennials, and interdisciplinary art programs have increasingly recognized textile, garment-based work, and artist-designed apparel as legitimate sites of visual inquiry. The historical divide between “fine art” and “craft” has been steadily dismantled, particularly as printmaking itself expanded beyond paper into installation, performance, and material experimentation. Fabric is not an auxiliary surface. It is a substrate with cultural, political, and personal charge.
Wearable art operates within this expanded field. Garments circulate through public space. They activate the body as a moving site of display. Unlike a framed print, a printed garment participates in lived experience. It is seen in motion, encountered in social environments, and embedded in daily life.
Beyond the Wall considers how printed clothing can function as intentional artistic production rather than a disposable commodity. These works are printed with intention, foregrounding composition, material, and message. They ask viewers to reconsider assumptions that wearable artwork is inherently consumable or merely decorative.
This exhibition broadens the horizon of contemporary print practice by situating clothing as a legitimate extension of the medium. It invites collectors and audiences to engage with art beyond the gallery interior and to recognize the body as an active site of aesthetic exchange.
