Beyond the Narrative: The Resistance is Black & Feminine is more than an art exhibition—it’s a night out and an immersive artistic experience.
Created by husband-and-wife artistic duo Markel & Lindsay Haralson and presented by Imperfectly Perfect Art LLC, the evening brings together original visual art, poetry, and live short plays to explore the stories, experiences, and resistance of Black women.
Throughout the experience, the boundaries between each art form begin to disappear. Paintings become poetry. Poetry becomes performance. Stories step off the canvas and onto the stage.
At its heart, Beyond the Narrative asks audiences to look beyond the stories society has already written about Black women and experience the humanity, complexity, vulnerability, joy, strength, and resistance that exist beyond them.
Come dressed for a night at the arts. Explore the exhibition. Experience the poetry. Watch the stories come alive.
