About this Event
BEYOND THE MUSIC hosts BRIT award-winning, multi-platinum-selling artist Aitch as the first Keynote speaker, on Wednesday October 9th. Aitch will be in conversation with Dotty, host of 'The Dotty Show' on Apple Music 1 & Lead Cultural Curator, Black Music for Apple Music UK.
Aitch continues to make waves across UK music and culture. Kicking off this year with ‘Famous Girl’, he reunited with German rapper Luciano for the Euros-inspired track ‘Baddies’, before joining forces once more with D-Block Europe for his latest offering, ‘Gold Mine’, showing the sentimental side of his character, explored on his #2 debut album Close To Home.
Delivering spectacular live performances is Aitch’s speciality, and he continues to make his mark on live venues and festivals globally with his charismatic stage presence and demeanour. This summer, the rapper returned to BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Capital FM’s Summertime Ball and Glastonbury, where he appeared during Anne-Marie and D-Block Europe’s sets. During his BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend performance, Aitch announced that he, his dad, family members, and some of his management team will climb Mount Kilimanjaro next January to raise funds and awareness for the Down’s Syndrome Association, where Aitch is an ambassador. This impressive feat follows the 15,000-ft skydive Aitch completed during Down’s Syndrome Awareness week last year in honour of his little sister Gracie.
Aitch will be in conversation with radio host, curator and music champion Dotty. Her daily show on Apple Music 1 brings the sounds of the diaspora to the world and plays the best new tracks in UK Black Music - from Afrobeats and Amapiano to Rap, Hip Hop, Dancehall and everything in-between. Dotty has also made it her mission to be at the forefront of big musical moments, whether that's celebrating Burna Boy at the London Stadium for Apple Music Live or launching her very own in-studio Sound Clash as part of Black History Month.
'Dotty In conversation with Aitch' promises to touch on a range of topics, from the importance of Manchester’s musical legacy for today’s generation of artists, Aitch’s personal experiences and challenges within the industry, to the idea of decentralising London as the home of UK rap.
