Beyond The Financial Awakening
About this Event
Beyond the Financial Awakening
Governments are borrowing more than ever. Most of us were never taught what that means for our money.
The interest on America’s $40 trillion debt now costs more than its military. Canada will pay $58.7 billion in interest this year, more than it sends the provinces for health care. More than four in 10 Canadians are $200 or less from missing a bill.
Meanwhile, the world is quietly moving away from the dollar. Its share of global central bank reserves has slipped from about 71% in 2000 to under 57% today. For the first time since 1996, foreign central banks hold more gold than U.S. Treasuries. Even Tether, the company behind the world’s largest stablecoin, is buying gold.
Ray Dalio recently warned that 60% of Americans read below a sixth-grade level. Our schools still don’t teach money.
Sound familiar?
- You work hard, save well, and still feel your money buys less every year.
- You hear a hundred opinions a week and don’t know whose to trust.
- You invest in precious metals but want to increase your circle of competence to gain a competitive advantage
- You’ve watched markets fall and wondered whether to sell, hold or buy more.
- You worry about retirement. Nearly half of Canadians aged 35–54 do too.
These numbers aren’t meant to scare you. They’re meant to wake you up.
“I believe the world is going through something much bigger than a financial awakening. I’m genuinely concerned about the financial well-being of the everyday person. Mainstream media isn’t showing the full picture, and our schools don’t teach real financial education.” — Ben Mumme
The awakening is realizing. Literacy is understanding. Education is the work in between.
This evening is where that work begins, and you won’t do it alone.
On Thursday, January 14, 2027, four of the most trusted voices in precious metals investing share one stage at Maison Ralia, hosted by Ben Mumme of Living Your Greatness, the podcast that helps people achieve greatness and enhance their well-being by mastering the best of what others have already figured out.
An educational evening. Nothing shared is investment advice.
Your panel
- Michael Gentile: co-founder of Bastion Asset Management and a top shareholder in more than 35 junior mining companies.
- Andy Schectman: co-founder of Miles Franklin Precious Metals, which has grown past $10 billion in sales since 1989.
- Daniela Cambone: Director of Gold Media at ITM Trading, who helped build Kitco News into the world’s most-visited gold news site.
- Peter Grandich: the “Wall Street Whiz Kid” who called the 1987 crash, and today speaks openly about money, faith and redemption.
From Building Generational Wealth to Beyond the Financial Awakening
At Building Generational Wealth, Daniela Cambone and Michael Gentile covered the foundations for every generation and walk of life:
- Budgeting and spending below your means
- What schools don’t teach about money
- The debt crisis
- Why gold has long been used to protect purchasing power
- Your circle of competence
- Why financial education is the one asset no one can take from you, or tax
This evening goes deeper. Not an update, but the next chapter, built for investors ready to understand this moment clearly.
The big picture, in five ideas
- Debt has a cost. When governments borrow faster than their economies grow, interest starts to crowd out everything else.
- Money quietly loses value. Inflation works like an invisible tax, and savers feel it first.
- Bonds are the plumbing. Who keeps buying government debt, and at what rate, shapes mortgages, savings and markets for everyone.
- Demographics are shifting. More retirees and fewer workers put pressure on pensions and public budgets.
- Gold is sending a signal. When central banks and a stablecoin giant choose gold over the dollar, it’s worth understanding why.
Understanding these forces is the difference between reacting and preparing.
What you’ll walk away with
- Lessons from history’s crashes: what 1987, 2000 and 2008 taught the panel about surviving and thriving when markets break.
- Know yourself as an investor: how to understand your risk tolerance and find the investing style that fits you, because there is no one-size-fits-all approach.
- Mental models for better decisions: the thinking tools the panel uses to cut through noise and act with conviction.
- Master your emotions: why fear and greed cost investors more than any market, and how to stay steady when others panic.
- Own what you understand: the difference between truly owning an asset and simply renting exposure to it, and why your circle of competence is your edge.
- A clearer macro picture: behavioural, narrative and Austrian economics, three lenses on why compounding beats inflation and how to preserve and grow your wealth.
- The strongest case against gold, silver and commodities and how the panelists answers it.
- What real wealth means, beyond money, and why investing is both an art and a lifelong practice.
