About this Event
Announcing the inaugural Life Science Access Academy’s Annual Conference for 2023.
Chaired by the editor of , , and co-founder of , .

The NHS has endured sustained and unprecedented pressure since COVID19 hit in 2020. What will the healthcare landscape look like in a post-pandemic world and how can you prepare for it?

A RTT waiting list - already 4.4m long before the pandemic - has grown to 6.8m, and keeps rising by about 100,000 a month. The number of staff vacancies is rising fast. There is a capital and maintenance backlog of over £9bn, most of which is urgent. Many ambulance services and A&Es are failing to meet demand. There are ongoing crises in mental health and maternity services.

This full-day conference for the pharma and medtech industries will explore the key issues and, crucially, looks beyond the crisis.

Will the Government’s New Plan for Patients, announced in September, be equal to the scale of these problems? How must the health and care system adapt? What new thinking is needed? Or can we look to the past for answers?

A range of expert speakers, will discuss the key themes of politics, policy, economics, clinical care and management.

Speakers:

Dr Axel Heitmueller Managing Director of Imperial College Health Partners (ICHP) – The policy of the NHS’s future

Sally Gainsbury Senior Policy Analyst at the Nuffield Trust – The finances of the NHS’s future

Kevin Fong OBE MRCP FRCA Consultant Anaesthetist at UCLH & Professor of Public Engagement and Innovation in the Department of STEaPP at University College London – The clinical care of the NHS’s future
