Beyond the Basics: Garment Construction Essentials
About This Class:
Have you ever looked at a garment and wondered... "How did they make this?" In this 90-minute workshop, you'll begin to understand the building blocks of garment construction by learning how clothes are assembled from the inside out. Perfect for students who have completed Beginner Sewing Bootcamp—or anyone with basic sewing machine knowledge—this class will help you understand why garments are constructed the way they are and how professional finishing techniques can elevate your sewing. We'll explore real garments, break down construction methods, and practice foundational techniques that you'll use in nearly every sewing project. During this workshop you'll learn:
• How to identify the major parts of a garment
• Different seam types and when to use them
• Seam allowances and why they matter
• Pressing techniques that improve the final look of your projects
• Basic hem finishes

• Construction order and professional sewing habits
You'll also create a seam sampler to take home as a reference for future projects. Who This Class Is For
