Ready to move beyond the fundamentals? This six-week course is designed for potters who are comfortable on the wheel and ready to build confidence, improve consistency, and create work with greater intention.
Working in a relaxed, supportive studio environment, you’ll receive personalized instruction as you refine your throwing, explore more complex forms, and discover new ways to add personality and craftsmanship to your pottery. Whether you’re inspired by an idea you’ve saved for months or simply want to strengthen your technique, this class offers the time and guidance to help you grow.
Throughout the course, you’ll explore:
* Throwing with greater confidence and control
* Refining forms through thoughtful trimming and finishing
* Designing pottery with purpose, function, and personal style
* Underglazes and decorative surface techniques
* Sgraffito, inlay, slip trailing, and other methods of surface design
* Individualized projects based on your interests and goals
Rather than focusing on making more pottery, we’ll focus on making better pottery—pieces that reflect your growing skills, creativity, and attention to detail.
By the end of six weeks, you’ll leave with a collection of thoughtfully crafted work, new techniques to continue exploring, and the confidence to push your pottery even further.
Prerequisite: Students should have completed an introductory wheel throwing course or have equivalent experience centering and throwing basic forms.
