Beyond Sobriety: Empowering Lives Through Trauma-Informed Recovery

Multiethnic Advocates for Cultural Competence, Inc. (MACC), in partnership with the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Ohio Chapter, presents Beyond Sobriety: Empowering Lives Through Trauma-Informed Recovery.

This free training explores the critical intersection of trauma and substance use disorders. Participants will examine how trauma can contribute to the development and continuation of substance use disorders while learning practical, trauma-informed strategies that promote safety, trust, collaboration, and holistic recovery.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

1. Explain the connection between trauma and substance use disorders, including how trauma can contribute to their development and perpetuation.
2. Apply trauma-informed approaches by identifying evidence-based interventions and prevention strategies that promote safety, trust, and collaboration in treatment settings.
3. Develop individualized treatment approaches for clients with co-occurring trauma and substance use disorders while considering trauma history and cultural humility.

Who Should Attend:

This training is designed for social workers, counselors, substance use professionals, peer supporters, behavioral and mental health professionals, educators, and others interested in trauma-informed recovery.

About the Trainer:

Rachael E. DuBose, M.S.Ed., LPCC-S, CCTP, is a Cincinnati-based mental health professional and the Soul-Centered CEO of Be the Light Clinical Supervision and Consulting. She brings experience in clinical supervision, trauma-informed care, mental health, substance use recovery, and supporting professionals who serve individuals and communities with complex behavioral health needs.

Continuing Education:

Two continuing education hours will be provided for eligible Ohio licensees through Ohio CSWMFT, Certified Peer Support, and ODCP.
