This inclusive course looks at how ableism shows up in everyday life: in comments, expectations, jokes, and “helpful advice” and how this affectsneurodivergent people. Together we will name these experiences, understand how they impact self‑esteem and wellbeing, and explore kinder, more respectful ways of relating to ourselves and others. You will leave this course with practical ways to set boundaries and advocate for yourself and others.
Course Objectives
Relate and evaluate the impact of ableism on self-esteem and wellbeing.
Understand and explain interpersonal ableism, internalised ableism and masking and how they show up in daily life.
Practice responding to at least two ableist comments or situations
Identify at least two realistic changes to mindset and responses of relating to own uniqueness
Course Requirements
Online sessions will be delivered via Zoom. You'll require access to a compatible device and Zoom account.
Face-to-face sessions will be delivered in-person at the venue listed. Depending on the venue, a component of the course may incorporate spending a short time outdoors.
You're encouraged to bring a water bottle, pen/pencil and notebook/journal, if possible.
Please note that refreshments are not provided.
