About this Event

Sponsored by LondonMet Journalism

For more than a decade, fashion industry has talked about inclusivity and body positivity. Catwalks (somewhat) diversified, plus-size models gained visibility, and brands expanded size ranges, at least on paper. But in 2026, the conversation feels different again.

New data suggests that size inclusivity is not just stalling but quietly reversing. At the same time, the rapid rise of weight-loss jabs has reignited debate about body politics and the pressures shaping both consumers and creatives. The growing use of AI-generated models in campaigns and e-commerce - often built to hyper-idealised proportions - adds another layer of complexity to how bodies are represented and standardised. Meanwhile, technological innovation, from AI-driven design to advanced fit analytics, promises precision tailoring and customisation. So why does limited sizing remain such a stubborn feature of the industry?

Bringing together a focused group of speakers from across the industry, our panel discussion will move beyond surface-level rhetoric to examine structural realities.

How do economics shape size ranges?

What role do fashion media narratives play in defining “aspirational” bodies?

Is technology an equaliser or another gatekeeper?

How are cultural attitudes toward weight evolving in an era of pharmaceutical intervention?

And finally, are we witnessing progress, regression, or simply a rebranding of old hierarchies?

Our panel will include:

  • Cyprian DeCoteau, fashion journalist and stylist;
  • Aleksandra Volkova, founder & CEO of VolkovaAgency, a full-service PR, fashion, and talent agency in London;
  • James Hunting, practising artist and fashion educator;
  • Omar Mansoor, fashion designer.

The discussion will take place on 11 March, 17.00 - 18.30 in room TM3-03 at London Metropolitan University, Holloway road campus.

The event will be followed by a student fashion catwalk.
