Film Preview & Private Reception to Berkeley’s groundbreaking Soda Tax will expire unless voters reauthorize it at the ballot this fall.
About this Event

Berkeley’s groundbreaking Soda Tax will expire unless voters reauthorize it at the ballot this fall. The Ecology Center and a broad colation of community leaders and organizations invite you to join us for a special screening of "Between the Sun and the Sidewalk," a compelling documentary about efforts to adopt  a similar soda tax in Stockton Ca..

This powerful film by, local filmmaker Helen De Michiel, follows two young Latino political organizers as they lead a dedicated team to mobilize their community in support of a sugary drink tax. The screening aims to celebrate De Michiel's impactful storytelling and to galvanize our community campaign for the Berkeley Soda Tax, on November's ballot.. By attending, you'll support both local art and a vital health equity initiative. Tickets are $15, $10 with a student ID,

Following the screening the Ecology Center will host a VIP fundraising reception down the block at Vintage Berkeley. There,  you can meet the filmmaker, leaders featured in the film, and campaign activists while enjoying great food, wine and other beverages.
