Between the Sheets: Anatomy, Physiology, and Psychology of Sexual Pleasure

"Let's talk about sex, baby." - Salt N' Pepa

Romantic relationships impact our mental and physical health, which is why patients often confide in healthcare professionals about their sex lives. Yet nurses, physician's assistants, midwives, therapists, and other healthcare workers may not feel prepared to answer such intimate questions.

Relationship + sex educator Meghna Mahambrey, MEd, PhD has partnered with oncology nurse Samantha Rogers, BSN, RN, OCN to offer this professional development seminar designed for medical professionals in which they address common patient concerns along with strategies to support their sexual health and well-being.

Participants will walk away with evidence-based knowledge and skills not typically covered in medical training, including:

• Sexual anatomy and physiology
• Psychology of sexual desire, arousal, and orgasm
• Influence of relationship quality on sexual satisfaction
• Health considerations (illness, Medic*tion side effects, hospital stays)
• The critical distinction between educating vs. advising patients
• Inclusive ways to address these sensitive topics across diverse cultures, religions, and gender/sexual identities

All medical professionals are welcome. Coffee, pastries, and light lunch included.

* This seminar fulfills 3.5 CE contact hours through the Ohio Nurses Association. Criteria for successful completion: Attendance at entire event or session (which will be verified through a check-in and check-out procedure).
