In 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, Baynes illuminates C.S. Lewis's writing on Scripture, while at the same time arguing that Lewis’s most glorious writing emerges when he eschews academic biblical scholarship and relies instead on his greatest strength—his literary imagination, especially in the Chronicles of Narnia.
Baynes will read selections from her book, discuss her work on C.S Lewis, sign copies of her book, and answer questions from the audience. Copies of 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 will be available to purchase.
Leslie Baynes is associate professor of New Testament and Second Temple Judaism at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. She focuses on ancient apocalyptic literature and C. S. Lewis, and has also served as scholar-in-residence at the Kilns (Lewis’s home outside Oxford), as an Inklings Project Fellow, and as a translator for the New American Bible Revised Edition (John and Revelation). In addition to 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 , she is also the author of 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐟 𝐢𝐧 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐨-𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐩𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟎 𝐁𝐂𝐄–𝟐𝟎𝟎 𝐂𝐄, as well as many academic articles.
