Phobophilia
Thursday, October 29 | 6–10 PM
Woodhouse Brewing, Santa Cruz
The world’s ending … what’s on TV?
Welcome to Phobophilia, the first event in BeTV Presents, a new immersive art series exploring what happens when we stop watching and start participating.
Step into a world of interactive art and immersive broadcasts, exploring our complicated relationship with fear. Wander through a maze-like art walk created by local artists, each exploring a different fear we navigate in the world today. Then tune in to BeTV, a public-access-TV inspired stage where everyone is welcome to Be on TV. Check details below for event details, tickets, and costume contest.
Come explore your fears, discover something unexpected, and become part of the broadcast.
Sliding Scale Donation
$10-$20 in advance. $20-40 at the door.

LIVE ART ||| REAL PEOPLE ||| IMMERSIVE BROADCASTS
BeTV Presents
Creating spaces where people from all over can come together to make art and share their unique point of view. Through the practice of immersive and collaborative art, a door is opened for our community to co-create each event — breaking down the barrier between artist and audience, creating living art shaped by the people who show up.
COSTUME CONTEST: ALTER EGO
Who are you when you step outside yourself?
Or … who are you when you leave fear behind and step into yourself?
Come as your secret identity, your unapologetic self, or someone you've always wanted to be.
Get weird. Be creative. Have fun.
HELP US BUILD THE ALTAR
We’re creating a communal altar to honor the animals and people we carry with us, the ones who are no longer here but remain a part of us.
Bring a photo or letter to add to the altar. Choose something you’re comfortable parting with, as offerings will be surrendered to a fire pit, in recognition of the fear of loss.
GET INVOLVED
Got too many fears and nothing you can do about them? Turn your fears into art and help others navigate theirs by contributing to our interactive fright walk.
Does it feel like the world is on fire and you’ve got something to say about it? Join us on stage to share a story, deliver a survival PSA, sing a song, or do whatever helps you express that existential dread.
Email [email protected] or DM us @betvpresents on Instagram.
