Better Bilingual CIC - EAL Celebration Event : Sharing Good Practice

FOCUS: How can we make the curriculum accessible and develop academic literacy in the multilingual classroom?

We are delighted to be hosting our fifth EAL Celebration Event on Monday 4th July 2022, 2-4pm, kindly hosted this year by Blaise High School, Henbury, Bristol.

With guest speakers from a range of schools in Bristol and the South West, this CPD afternoon for teachers and school leaders will provide an opportunity to share and explore EAL good practice across the age range and across the curriculum.

1. Willow Park Primary - Zoe Welsh (EAL Specialist Teacher) - Welcoming and Teaching Refugee Pupils.

2. The Dolphin School - Hannah White (Languages Lead) - Celebrating multilingualism through a 'Mother Language Day' celebration.

3. Across Cultures/Learning Village - Providing targeted online and offline EAL learning and resources for 6-16-year-old learners in English-medium schools.

4.. Jacari - An award-winning charity providing 1:1 tutoring for EAL pupils.

5. Multilingual Matters - An independent academic book publisher based in Bristol, with a focus on multilingualism.

Booking Information

Bookings are now open (until Monday 20th June 2022) with 2 places per school/organisation available. It is recommended that the EAL/Inclusion Lead and Literacy/English Lead attend for maximum whole school impact; however, colleagues from across the staff body are more than welcome.

Cost: Free for Better Bilingual Partner Schools* or £30 per person**

*Currently working with Better Bilingual OR having purchased a Better Bilingual Annual Subscription to attend 3 termly EAL Network Meetings + the annual EAL Celebration Event (at £125 for up to 2 attendees/event)
