Berlin Folk Festival Concert Series #1: Drawing From The Body

Welcome to the first edition of the Berlin Folk Festival Concert Series: Drawing From The Body!

This will be a very special first event featuring a drawing workshop run by international artist Nomi Drory, starting at 6pm. The Drawing From The Body Workshops is a kinaesthetic drawing workshop using awareness techniques to bring us into our bodies, then inviting you to create life size artworks on the canvas in front of you.

While we all love to go to concerts and performances, we would like to give the opportunity to really experience each concert as a participant in making the space the wonderful art playground which it is. 

Karl Von Hammerstein:

Karl von Hammerstein crafted crafted his debut album, Look Up, in 2024. The record is raw and soulful, blending the warmth of vintage textures with songwriter intimacy and the tradition of Americana Folk. Grounded in drum machine beats and dreamy, tape-fluttered sounds, he fuses the richness of unique guitars and diverse instruments to create a sonic landscape bridging different music eras.

Mío Ma & tuftyhead:

Mío Ma from Barcelona and Tuftyhead a German-Californian artist, came together after diverse projects to create "COYAWN" - a fusion of RnB, neo-soul, neo-jazz, and experimental production. This will be a special performance of their personal songs and collaborative songs played as raw acoustic renditions!

Trevor James Lang:

Trevor Lang crafts melody centric compositions with a focus on intricate and emotive lyrics that immerse you into movie-like settings. Taking inspiration from artists of the past (Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Randy Newman) and the present (Joanna Newsom, Sufjan Stevens, Adrianne Lenker), Trevor honours the great songwriter tradition before him whilst staying true to his own distinct vision.

DJ MaryCherry:

DJ MaryCherry will be spinning 60's & 70's soul, rock 'n roll and funky tunes to keep us grooving after the musicians! Check out her radio show and more here!

COMMUNITY:

Being a community festival for the people, we have decided to donate a portion from every ticket sale to the local organization “Give Something Back To Berlin”. GSBTB is a multi-award winning association that connects migrants, refugees, and locals to engage in building an open and inclusive society. They run 80+ activities per month including art
and music workshops, which we are donating the funds directly to.
