Bergenline and Council Ring

An American rock band, formed in Charlotte, NORTH CAROLINA in 2015. Founding members ARE; singer-songwriter and guitarist CARLOS CORTEZ, bassist OSCAR CASTILLO, drummer ARIEL CORTEZ.

Council Ring found beginnings in the midst of a global pandemic: guitarist Ty Mattox, a native of Alabama, began playing at a local rehearsal studio with various musicians until he found Matt Kavanaugh. A native of Mississippi, Matt had spent his college years recording and playing music in Starkville. Soon, song ideas began to fill the air and a drummer was required.

Enter Quint Gallaher. A Florida native, he had been playing drums for close to ten years and thus provided a new level for this fledgeling band to climb to. After playing together for a month, a singer was next on the list.

Chris Jan had moved from Long Island, New York, to be a student at UNCC and met Quint through work. His vocal ability and musical experience made the music accessible and credible; the pressure was now on, to write and perform songs live.

After spring and summer of changes and personal growth, with songs and experience gained through long nights of music, the band was ready to begin performing live. A new member, Ian Hirsch of Florida, had joined the band as a keyboardist - a large gap now filled by his poignant melody and sense of music. The band began to play live for the first time in August of 2021, mere months after the first meeting between the members and starting a new adventure for these musicians in which the journey is the destination.
