The diverse piano player and composer Yiorgos Bereris invites the multi-talented clarinet player Panos Skouteris for an impromptu musical journey.
The duo will perform original compositions of Bereris’ upcoming album that are inspired by Greek traditional music and jazz idiom.
Bereris & Skouteris are part of the Rotterdam international music scene, where they live and perform. Since their first meeting, they felt the connection in & out of music and they are forming a powerful and melodic duo. Through their uplifting melodies, they are making the listener travel all the way from the Balkans to Greece.
Yiorgos Bereris is a Greek pianist, accordionist, keyboardist and composer. He works solo and in bands, mostly playing jazz & improvised music, as well as music from different traditions.
He studied jazz piano in the Ionian University of Corfu (GR) and currently he is following the Master course in the World Department of CODARTS (NL).
His passion is composing and exploring new forms without musical boundaries. His compositions are a mix of his main influences, Greek folk music, jazz tradition and Afro-Cuban sounds. Lately, he has been recording his first album which is going to be released in spring 2022.
Panos Skouteris is a Greek clarinet player and wind-instrumentalist with a pure folk music background. His journeys around Greece, the Balkans and Anatolia as an ethnomusicologist have blended with the modern aspect of modal & improvised music. Currently, he started his 2nd Bachelor course in makam music in the World Department of CODARTS with his clarinet, while suggesting a new perspective to the wider world music scene with this deeply classical instrument.
