The TinMen – showing our solidarity with a benefit gig for SWC
The TinMen were sickened and angered by the recent break-in, theft and damage that occurred at beloved live music venue, the Semaphore Workers Club – so we aim to put back what the vandals took. And you can help too!
The TinMen will be playing a special benefit gig at Semaphore Workers Club – 93 The Esplanade, Semaphore – on FRIDAY 11 SEPTEMBER.
The TinMen is donating all of its share from door admission to the Semaphore Workers Club, so the larger the crowd, the more money we raise for this cause. It’s our gesture to say this venue is too valuable and too important to be undermined by senseless vandalism. But it doesn't have to stop there. Every drink you buy and every coin or note you put in the donation jar will help bridge the gap by what's covered by the club's insurance and what will be needed to keep the nazis out.
Doors open at 7.30pm and The TinMen will start playing their inimitable style of original blues music from 9pm.
The TinMen play dusky blues of a local stripe, where the hot howling breath of Chicago’s south side meets the huff and puff of Adelaide’s suburban toil. Respectful of the great blues harp and guitar masters – Little Walter, Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, T-Bone Walker – The TinMen shape the sound to fit comfortably inside a nifty, nimble four-piece combo that shimmies and shakes in all the right places. Our kinda blues, from the Southside o’ Croydon.
This performance will be the official preview party of The TinMen’s new album. A whole batch of The TinMen’s original songs have been recorded and mixed – and a vinyl record will be issued in the near future. You’ll get to hear these fresh tunes first – attaching just the right amount of moanin’ and complainin’ and smirkin’ to conjure up a mighty collection of modern suburban Adelaide blues standards. These are proud and defiant TinMen songs – true blue, through and through.
