Steve Butler is a husband and father who has lived in Conway for almost 30 years. He is a member of the Shrine, Eastern Star, and is a Past Master of his Masonic Lodge. Professionally, he is a middle school teacher who teaches social studies after attaining his Masters and Ed.S. degrees at Coastal Carolina University. An emergency room visit for lower back pain brought the news that he is also a man who is fighting cancer. The tumor located in his chest is pressing against vital organs and the nerves which wrap around it make the pain even more intense. The tumor is also inoperable because of its proximity to his aorta. The only alternative for a cure is intense chemotherapy which has left him unable to work.
