Four hip-hop dancers plunge us into a dreamlike world where their different memories of life collide. In a succession of sketches set against a fantastical backdrop, where mime, hip-hop, and physical theater melds and intertwines with every movement.In Beneath the weight of feathers, four dancers open a dusty, forgotten trunk with feathers that fly out and turn into memories: images of everyday life, sweet, quirky, funny or cheeky. Memories that bind us to the passage of time, but which eventually slip away.
Each moment conjures a dreamlike world where memory is interrogated, and the passage of time is reflected. The audience is invited to question their own memories as the dancers strip the fragmented feathers of the past away bit by bit, until only a raw canvas remains.
For over 20 years, Compagnie Pyramid has been a driving force behind hip-hop dance and urban culture in the Charente-Maritime region of France. With an artistic approach akin to mime, gestural theater and comedy, it presents an unusual and rare approach in today's choreographic landscape.
