BenBen + Lily: A Night of Dream Folk

NYC’s premiere dream folk ensemble, BenBen + Lily, will make their LA debut at Lyric Hyperion on October 17. The duo, whose EP “White Elephant” on Perpetual Doom Records gathered 60k streams since its late June release, will have just returned from their second European tour of 2024. They continue on to Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco on Oct 22 before traveling all over Washington and Oregon.
BenBen is an animator, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and singer with a voice that sounds like the unlikely combination of Elliot Smith and Freddy Mercury. Lily is a 5-string violin sorceress with dark, aching melodies and a voice that will never leave your mind. While she’s lived in NYC for ages, she’s originally from LA. BenBen + Lily will play music they’ve written together as well as selections from their solo careers.
The duo will be joined by their longtime studio drummer Jonathan Smith, an LA native, as well as several instrumentalists and friends TBD. The night will begin with a mysterious performance by Lily’s longtime friend and creative co-creature, the fiercely strange and wonderful Maddie Mutations.
The night will feature live projections of animations by BenBen and his video collaborators. Expect a ton of cool chamber instrumentation. If you’re a fan of music that is ornate, beautiful, creatively ambitious, emotionally touching and unpredictable, this show is for you.
