From the heart of Seattle's rock scene to the playfully creepy realms of Devilish Swing, Tony's debut instrumental solo release is more than just an album; it's an emotional and astounding breath of fresh air that transcends the boundaries of genre.
Over the better part of a decade, Tony has consistently sold out shows to thousands of rock fans in Seattle’s largest clubs. As part of Windowpane, he also toured arenas and large theaters, both locally and internationally, in support of heavyweights like Five Finger Death Punch and Queensryche. With this new album, Tony has stepped out of the comfortable familiarity of a rock band, unleashing his most unique and personal creations to date.
Along with masters Ben Smith (Heart) on drums and Keith Lowe (Fiona Apple) on the acoustic stand-up bass, Tony has crafted a very personal and powerful sonic journey, fully tapping into the ethereal. Dark, playful, and creepy at times, Tony Abreu's "Devilish Swing" is an authentic expression of liberation within a genre-defying fusion of rock guitar prowess and old-school big band swing. It's a dancing sonic cinema that promises to shine its own unique and stylish light within the world of instrumental rock guitar.
Recorded by Jonathan Plum at London Bridge Studios, mixed by Brett Eliason & mastered by Ted Jensen, the album's live sessions capture the essence of the musicians’ unbridled artistry.
The very visual and emotional flavors of this unique material has also lent itself extremely well to video! Directors Asher Vast and Kevin Preston not only captured Tony’s authentically passionate stage presence, but also breathed life into his dark, yet impish imagery in the title track's video. Skeletons from the roaring twenties reawaken, while Bonnie and Clyde’s romance is rekindled; not to mention the antique hot rods, forbidding cemetery gates, and tombstones. It’s a massive production, taking you on a spiritedly creepy ride!
