Ben Drysdale - Live @ The Dickson Taphouse
With over 20 years facilitating arts projects with marginalised communities, Ben’s songwriting is grounded in real stories and lived experience—but don’t mistake that for heavy. His live sets move effortlessly between heartfelt and light-footed, pairing reflective moments with warmth, wit, and the kind of easy charm that turns a half-listening crowd into a room that leans in, while providing a vibing background to those who are doing their own thing.
He’s the founder of Songwriting for Non-Songwriters, a public mental health advocate, and a board member of the National Folk Festival—though on stage, it’s less about titles and more about creating a space where people can exhale a bit. Where a song might catch you off guard one moment, you’ll be laughing the next, and stomping your feet and pumping fists shortly afterwards.
Ben’s music has featured internationally on Good Trouble, MTV’s Ex On The Beach, and The Young and The Restless, alongside recognition in the Hawaii Songwriting Festival, Unsigned Only Music Competition (Naskville) and Songwriting Prize (Aus). Across five EPs, a live album, and a catalogue spanning 38 global licensing deals, his work has travelled far—but it’s in intimate, human-scale rooms where it lands best.
Because whether it’s a theatre, a festival stage, or a slightly-too-loud pub on a Friday night, Ben Drysdale’s songs don’t ask for silence—they break through the noise at times, and add to it in just the right way at others.
