Award-winning pianist, composer and sonic explorer Belle Chen brings her spellbinding solo performance to the Perth International Jazz Festival for one night only.
Fresh from a standing ovation at the 2024 EFG London Jazz Festival, Belle has been praised by Brian Eno as "original and provocative… feels like the sense of discovery." Her latest album, Ravel In The Forest, reached #7 on the UK Official Classical Chart and #15 on the ARIA Classical Chart, cementing her reputation as one of the most exciting artists working across contemporary classical, jazz and experimental music.
Inspired by the natural world, Ravel In The Forest unfolds like a journey through ancient woodlands and dreamlike landscapes, where lyrical piano intertwines with shimmering synths, free-flowing improvisation and cinematic soundscapes. Influenced by Maurice Ravel, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Joe Hisaishi, Belle creates immersive performances that are both intimate and transportive.
This solo performance features music from Ravel In The Forest alongside new material, showcasing an artist whose work defies genre and invites audiences into a world of imagination and wonder.
