Here at Saccharomyces Beer Café, we have always enjoyed a good old tipple or two from the Disneyland of beer. Each year we celebrate Belgium National Day with a host tasty brews and eats. Every year it is a painstaking process picking just a few of the extraordinary amount of Belgian brews. For 2022 that was not enough. We are going full Belge for a whole week. From July 18 to 24 we are packing out our taps with a week full of great beers for the inaugural Belgian Beer Week! We have squirreled away over 20 kegs direct from the mother land with a host of very special bottled brews. You’ll get to taste them all as we throw exclusive free and ticketed events throughout the week.So what’s on?
First up, we are going to ease you in with the oldest continually brewed style of beer, Lambic. Join us on Monday July 18 for the Australian debut public screening of Lambic: About Time and Passion - a movie that explores this unique style of beer that has been brewed unchanged in Belgium for hundreds of years. Remember 2012? A time before social distancing and check ins. On Tuesday, we’ll bring you back with a tasting of St Bernardus ABT 12 from 2012, 2018 and 2021. We’ll be cracking magnums of this epic aged beer and taste them side by side. To accompany this boozy flavour explosion, we have put together a tasty array of cheese, lavosh and dried fruit. On Belgian National Day (July 21), we have the Lindemans’ coming over! Lindemans Brewery was established in 1822 and nine generations later Lindemans is still family owned, operated, and brewing uniquely Belgian beers.
