About this Event
The Black Environmental Leaders Association (BEL) brings together community leaders, advocates, and residents to advance environmental justice through education, collaboration, and action. Our work addresses the interconnected impacts of land, water, air, transportation, and energy on health, equity, and economic opportunity.
The Annual Jacquie GillonLuncheon honors the life and legacy of Jacqueline (Jacquie) E. Gillon while uplifting young people who are leading, learning, and shaping the future of environmental justice. This event recognizes youth whose voices, commitment, and innovation reflect the values Jacquie championed throughout her life.
Jacquie was a visionary public servant, educator, and community connector. Her leadership included service on the East Cleveland City Council, work with the Western Reserve Land Conservancy’s Thriving Communities program, mentorship of 29 cohorts through the Neighborhood Leadership Institute, and co-founding BEL. She believed deeply in preparing the next generation to lead with purpose and care for both people and place.
This annual celebration highlights youth achievement, emerging leadership, and the collective responsibility to invest in a just and sustainable future.
Join us as we honor youth leaders and the legacy that continues to inspire them.
Lunch will be provided.
Doors open at 11:00 AM.
