Behind the Seen: American Beauty
About this Event
Presented by Gabi Sander-Meyer, Docent Manager at the Detroit Institute of Arts, this talk explores highlights from the Detroit Institute of Arts’ American art collection, spanning 1770 to 1920. Through paintings and sculptures viewed within their historical and cultural contexts, participants will discover how American artists responded to a changing nation, from the colonial era through the early decades of the twentieth century.
Through Behind the Seen, the DIA brings art into the community—offering engaging, docent-led talks that invite participants to look closely, share ideas, and connect with artworks from the museum’s collection. Funding for Behind the Seen talks in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties is provided by the Tri-County Millage
